Shareholder Management

Shareholders on Stack will receive their own dashboards to view and manage their securities.

🎛 General

What is a shareholder?

A shareholder (or stakeholder) is a person or entity that has equity in your company. This can mean founders, employees, advisors, or investors.

Stack’s pricing is not based on the number of shareholders/stakeholders. Stakeholder-based pricing gets expensive as companies grow. It’s hard for companies to predict, and it punishes companies for accepting a large number of small investments or giving equity to many employees and advisors.

What do shareholders see when I invite them to Stack?

Stack enables your investors and employees to log in and see their own holdings. They will not be able to see the company’s cap table or any admin-level information or features. You have the option of providing them access to their fully diluted ownership percentage and certain value information if you would like. Admins can manage these settings in Stack.

How can I see the shareholder view?

As a company administrator, you can preview what shareholders see on their own dashboards.

In the company dashboard, on the individual Shareholder page, you will see a button called "Preview Dashboard." This gives you view and limited edit access to the shareholder's dashboard for your company. You cannot see securities that this shareholder may hold for other Stack companies.

📯 Inviting Shareholders

How do I add a new shareholder?

Follow the purple dots to see how to add a new shareholder. This will create a new shareholder profile, but it won't send any emails. To invite your shareholder to their dashboard, see here.

You can always edit the shareholder information you add.

Should I use personal or work emails for shareholders?

For individual shareholders, it’s best to use a personal email address. That way, if they have holdings and leave the company, then they can still easily access their holdings without any further changes.

For institutions, such as investment firms, it’s best to use their work email address. That way, investors with work email addresses will be able to view their investment in their fund account, not their personal account.

How can I invite a shareholder to their dashboard?

When you issue new stock, shareholders will automatically get an email. If you want to invite your shareholders to view their dashboards without issuing new stock, you can do that on the Shareholder's page. Alternatively, you can direct them to stack.angellist.com/login and provide them with their login email address.

🗃 Administration

How can I add my shareholder's back office to their dashboard?

If your shareholder has investment advisors, partners, or others who need to have visibility on their dashboard, you can add them to the shareholder view. You'll be able to select the appropriate permission level for each user.

How can I export shareholder information?

You can get a spreadsheet of all share certificates or shareholders by clicking on the "Export" button within the company dashboard pages that list shareholders as well as share certificates.
